With a B.A. in Applied Arts and Art History, my early training and love for the arts has never left me, even as I began my career in movement and oriental medicine. I believe Yantra Painting is a beautiful marriage of heart and mind medicine, that allows the practitioner to creatively express while healing and calming the mind and heart connection. Resulting in greater clarity, focus and productivity.

I am passionate about practicing and teaching this ancient technological artistic form of creative meditation. Join me at an upcoming workshop, live or live streaming. Yantra painting is the practice of creating geometric diagrams used in Hindu and Buddhist traditions for meditation and spiritual purposes. A yantra is a visual tool designed to aid in focusing the mind and achieving higher states of consciousness. The word "yantra" comes from the Sanskrit word "yam," meaning to control or restrain, and "tra," meaning instrument. Therefore, a yantra is considered an instrument for controlling and focusing the mind.

  • Practice of Making Yantra Painting:

Understanding the Yantra: Each yantra has specific geometric patterns and is associated with particular deities, energies, or purposes. Understanding the symbolism and purpose of the yantra you are creating is the first step.

Materials and Preparation: Gather the necessary materials such as paper, canvas, pencils, rulers, compasses, and paints. Prepare a calm and clean space for the practice.

Drawing the Yantra: Carefully draw the geometric patterns, starting from the center and moving outward. Precision is essential, as the symmetry and proportions of the yantra are crucial.

Coloring and Decoration: Once the outline is complete, color the yantra. Traditionally, specific colors are used for different parts of the yantra, each with its own symbolism and significance.

Chanting and Meditation: Often, the process of creating a yantra is accompanied by chanting mantras associated with the yantra. This practice enhances the meditative and spiritual aspects of the process.

Consecration: After the yantra is completed, it may be consecrated through rituals and prayers to activate its spiritual energy.

  • Benefits of Yantra Painting:

Meditative Focus: The precise and detailed nature of creating a yantra requires intense concentration, which helps in quieting the mind and enhancing focus. This meditative practice can lead to a sense of inner peace and calm.

Spiritual Growth: Working with yantras and their associated mantras can deepen one's spiritual practice, promoting a sense of connection with the divine and facilitating spiritual growth.

Balancing Energies: Yantras are believed to carry specific energies that can influence the environment and the person creating them. Different yantras are used to attract different kinds of energy, such as prosperity, protection, or healing.

Enhancing Creativity: The artistic process of designing and painting yantras can stimulate creativity and artistic expression, providing a fulfilling and enriching experience.

Stress Relief: The repetitive and rhythmic nature of drawing geometric patterns can be very soothing and help reduce stress and anxiety.

Self-Discovery: The introspective nature of yantra painting can lead to greater self-awareness and insights into one's own thoughts, emotions, and spiritual path.
